A Journey To The Cross

Station 4: NO CONDEMNATION

As you walk with Jesus, you notice that He spends a lot of time with people who were considered "sinful" and others looked down on. Maybe sometimes you are tempted to look down on others too, or consider yourself to be better than them. You are so thankful that Jesus chose you, that sometimes you forget that we all daily need God's grace.

Read John 8:2-11.Maybe sometimes feel like your past or your present failures prevent God from loving you.

First, picture yourself as this woman as Jesus tells her that He does not condemn her. How does that make you feel?

Second, picture yourself as one of the religious leaders in the story that stood in judgement of the woman and threatened to stone her. Pick up a stone that represents your human reaction to the failure and sin of others. Then imagine Jesus writes in the sand a message to you. Using your finger, write down what God might say that reminds you that we are all in need of mercy. Or write who He might be challenging you to love and forgive despite what they have done. Imagine that you are setting this person and yourself free. Pray for God's help and erase the name before moving on.

Bonus For Kids

Sometimes it is easy for us to get frustrated and only see the negative things about others. But in this story, Jesus reminds us that we all make mistakes, and we all need God's love. Think of someone that might be difficult for you to love or be kind to. Ask Jesus to show you how you can be kind to them. Write down any ideas you come up with. Imagine that when you forgive others or show them kindness (even when they are mean to you) that you set them free like a bird flying out of its cage!
