A Journey To The Cross
Station 10: TRIAL
After Jesus is arrested in the garden of Gethsemane, he is first brought before the religious leaders who try to make up accusations against him. Then they hand Jesus over to Pilot, the Roman governor of Judea, to be tried. Read John 19:1-16. Imagine you witness Jesus being beaten, mocked, and crowned with thorns. Imagine the crowd around you shouting to have your friend and leader, Jesus, crucified.
Take the gavel and pound it; feel the finality of Jesus's death sentence. Spend a moment thinking about the injustice of Jesus being condemned though he was innocent.
Next, choose a rock that symbolizes the weight of shame and condemnation that Jesus carried. Bring the rock with you out the door and into the middle auditorium doors. You will find more instructions there for what to do with the rock.

Jesus was arrested and brought before Jewish and Roman leaders for trial. But some people lied about Jesus, and said He did things He hadn't done. When the Roman governor, Pilate, met Jesus, he did not think He deserved to die. He tried to set Jesus free, but all the people shouted to have Jesus killed. How do you think Jesus felt?
Take a turn holding the gavel, and hit it on the wooden board as though you are a judge sentencing Jesus to death. How does this make you feel? Write or draw about this in your book, and take a sticker from the table too!
Then, pick up a rock (make sure you find one that you can safely carry!) and let it remind you of the weight Jesus carried. Bring the rock with you to the next station and you will find out what to do with it there.
